Focus and Scope

The JID, a product of EV Research Inc, is an inter-disciplinary platform for discussions, critical dialogue, emerging themes, reflections and explorations on a wide range of topics and regions around the globe. To accomplish its aim, the JID has four major objectives:

  • To raise the profile of IDPs through academic and non-academic scholarship;
  • To provide a platform for young scholars from internally displaced communities to  be heard;
  • To contribute to law and policy reforms related to IDPs; and
  • To create an inclusive environment for young and emerging scholars from developing countries to engage in critical debate on IDPs.

Central thematic volumes on various topics relatable to IDPs will characterized the JID publications. In particular, JID will develop special themes targeted at scholars from developing countries who may have experiences of being internally displaced. By so doing, these scholars who are often denied opportunity to publish in other peer-reviewed journals will be given the chance to take leadership role and contribute to social change. Special thematic volumes will include articles, reports, commentaries, book reviews, and debates on topics ranging from internal displacements caused by development, conflict, war, natural disaster, economic hardship, marginalization, modernization, poor governance, ecological factors and more.
