Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review) have been followed.

Author Guidelines

   All authors submitting an article for publication in the ISJ must use the online system as indicated below.  However, prior to getting to this point please ensure that you have read and fully understand the contents of the Manuscript Template found at this URL http://www.investigativesciencesjournal.org/downloads/ISJTemplate.doc.  If you choose to use the MS Word file you will be able to cut and paste your article in accordance with the format provided, otherwise use it as a guide. Please note that we prefer all tables, graphs, charts and photographs be inserted in your article prior to uploading.  However, if that becomes too cumbersome, upload them as Supplementary Files with the appropriate designator in the text of the manuscript telling us where these files are to be placed.          

If you have not registered with the journal then you need to do so now by clicking on “Register”.  During this process you will be required to provide a Username, Password, some personal information (as you deem appropriate), an email address and must designate yourself as an “Author” and/or “Reviewer”.   Once the registration process is complete you can simply log-in and select “Author” if you are submitting a manuscript.  Then there are five easy steps to submitting your article to the journal. 

Step 1, Starting a New Submission:  Here you will see a drop down menu about the type of document you are submitting (article, case study, etc.).  Proceed to the checklist and agree to all requirements.  Review the Privacy Statement and if you have comments for the editor, place them here; select Save and Continue. 

Step 2, Metadata:  In this step you have the opportunity to add other authors, provide the Title and type in the abstract or copy/paste.  Then you are asked to provide the keywords relating to your submission; select Save and Continue. 

Step 3, Upload Submission:   Click the browse button and locate your file for uploading into the system.  Your file will be given an identifier by the system while retaining your file designator as well; select Save and Continue. 

Step 4, Upload Supplementary Files:  These files could be Tables, Charts, Photographs, Figures or Charts.  Once completed please select Save and Continue. 

Step 5, Confirming Submission:  At this juncture you have the option to correct your submissions or confirm them by selecting Save.
